some random thoughts...

haha.. nuaing too much in london so decided to blog some random thoughts i have on this trip. kinda thankful for the euros cos dun need to change like diff currencies. feel the power of the EU cos it is virtually borderless as we go from one station to another. onli the language of exit like salida for spanish, urchita for italian and sortie for french, changes and the font of the station names. but i guess the first world isnt so much diff. i compare it to china lah cos to me, it is kinda third world i guess the people's habits and culture. here, people still cut queue, they spit, they wee wee everywhere. so sometimes i feel that singapore's campaign for a gracious society is kinda silly cos even these countries which we deem as advanced aren't even doing it. then why are we? haha... but well really get to appreciate singapore's squeaky clean's image etc. no gum, garbage bins all over. but i guess people here are really much more open to changes, vocal (militant the french a brit guy told us on the train), and friendly. but i still can't get used to their cheek to cheek or lips to cheek, kinda feel violated. oh man i'm so conservative. can really test my threshold this way i guess. but i would agree to ryan's statement in CB class, 'we are onli aware of our own identity, ethnicity when we are overseas.' i wouldn't say the people here are totally racist becos they still wanna earn our money but u can feel that we are seriously different. and u will be totally amazed that people can't tell asians apart like japanese, koreans, chinese etc etc. they can konichiwa to us, trying their luck that we are japanese. oh man. haha.. i would say we met lotsa interesting people. and we are very lucky until now we are alright as in nothing bad happened, other than my camera and misplaced my adapter and paid 15 euros for it, left my sunglasses at a cafe near vatican. well this all seem quite trivial. haha.. but yes we missed our train once in venice, got on the wrong train in madrid. but well guess we lived with it. i can feel that generally three is really a secure group. i shld really try to travel on my own. met lotsa solo ppl and i really admire their courage and guts for it. dun worry i'm happy with my travel mates most of the time. they are my best pals ever already. if it's someone else, hrmm.. i think i'll have it worse. maybe jus sophia cos we are too alike til we are scary. played dai di on all the long train rides. companionship is impt i guess. and ya this makes us more comfy to talk to roommates or strangers as a group. cang, well not very very macho, ya will show his manly side when the occassion for it arises. johnny joined us in paris. still not entirely comfortable with him, but foursome is not as intense as threesome. haha... was kinda tired in spain already and with pms. haha.. ok some days are like tat. oh ya the french really left an impression on me, even if u are holding a map on the street, they'll jus offer their help voluntarily. so nice and of cos michael is french. i would say he's an outlier. too sociable lah. and ya after travelling for 3 weeks, tired. feel so much more at home at london where we can ask for proper directions, look for traffic the correct side. yeah the british accent is tolerable after 3 weeks of foreign language imersion except i still read the body language onli. for once, i'm resting my mind. kinda have my guard up against strangers or watever for 3 weeks. it's tiring. trust me. haha.. and i'm missing all the food, prawn mee no. 1 laksa no. 2 then chicken rice a close 3rd. alright this trip made me realise i mus be stronger i guess. to travel alone. we took care of each other so it wasn't all tat bad. maybe let me rank my fav cities, tough choice. ok roommates first. the german girls in rome were so comfortable to bitch with they are indispensible. so no. 1 no. 2 i would say the american boys. no. 3 perhaps the argentina guy. at the bottom of cos is room mate from hell. this middle aged irish guy who came back like 3 am, snored like nobody's biz wearing onli his underwear. traumatised all of us. cities. no. 1 london (my olympic 2012 choice too), no.2 nice perhapes more relaxed but rained boo hoo hoo.. no. 3 i guess it would be a tie between barcelona and venice. venice is really pretty without much substance barcelona has more character and of cos my fav church of them all my sagrada familia check out the website www.sagradafamilia.org then comes rome no. 4 maybe rome was a little too intense for me. the colleusium, vatican, all the churches and museums, pompeii, trevi fountain was great for me cos for once it's not abt a saint but of neptune. but yeah i still like it though rome is a little rough by the edges. and the food was like fantastic. pasta and pizza. then comes paris. it's pretty too. i love the sacre croete with the gigantic fresco of christ, arc de troimph, effiel, notre dame was comsi comsa (so so for french) but the people more than made up for it. and the mussels with fries never ate so much mussels in my whole life and going to swear off them for a while. went out at 1pm today haha.. the latest we ever got out in 3 weeks. visited the tower of london. quite cool. a castle dating way back to the 1st king of england. where the ravens' wings are clipped cos a superstition goes that if all the ravens fly away, the monarchy will fall and so will england. the crown jewels were huge and oh man they can feed the whole of africa 5 years with jus the imperial crown of india man. but the small diamond crown of queen victoria was really petite and pretty. then cooked dinner for cang's sis's frens whom we are staying with. wat we thought was a disaster turned out amazingly alright so everyone was happy. walked down the south bank of thames river. but was getting a tad chilly so came back and had milo. haha... you mei you ge nua de? going to buckingham, the harrods, hyde park and watch phantom of the opera tmr. and yes phantom again. 2nd time musical. well it's my fav musical and hope the christine is good. noticed that our risk tolerance still aint high enough. i mean we have all our hostels booked and itinerary planned but those ang mos who stayed in hostels jus come and go as they like. a day is a day. if they like it, they stay longer etc etc. they can also happily jus take a year off sch to travel. haha... imagine wat mama and everybody would say if i did tat. i would be labelled as selfish and pressured to finish sch and find a job. seriously there is really no wonder we have no entrepreneurs in singapore. and oh ya the smart car looks really cool although i'm not sure how it works. saw diff models. saw the most in rome i guess. maybe i'll buy a smart car next time. people here also dun wash their cars. the windscreen is like so dusty loh. car wash here not fashionable i guess. haha.. alright need to zzz le. blog if i have more thoughts again. tmr phantom. yeah!!! oh ya can graduate le with results so i'm alright. a tad disappointed with biz pol though. thought can do better. others i kinda know lah. haha.. well ive officially out of sch and sadly haven got a single A. yes A-s have lah but got minus not nice. hai... alright be satisfied with wat u have. i learnt tat. nobody's merit is based on their exams' results. zzzz.. wan an.

skee the great
