race 3

haha... are u ready for the fantastic story 1st hand from the RF team member? haha okok suspense is already out. we got 2nd lah after running ard like headless chickens, looking threatening on the streets to hitch a ride and stinking up ppl's new cars. well this is the full story as far as i can rem. heee...

Day 1
we started off promising. flagged off at NUS SRC stadium. supposed to go to 5 locations according to the no. we got to get to the next clue. we decided to grab either clue no. 4 or no. 5 cos no. 4 was central lib and no. 5 was KR terminal cos they were all close to main roads. we sent you kai to grab the clues while sophy, yeeky and me grab the bags. you kai managed to grab no. 3 which was science bus stop which was actually the most advantegous one to go to the next station but well we saw a no. 5 on the ground when we met up so we jus took no. 5. then sophy damn powerful jus cross the road from SRC hailed a cab already and used our tai ci to tell uncle and sat her yet-to-be-smelly butt on the taxi while we were running towards the cab. then uncle bo bian give us a free ride to KR terminal. when we reach there, (according to terence's fren who was the RP there), i pounced on her like a bear. i think prob we were too fast and she was zzzing loh. haha.. anyway we got a morse code and we were like shit this is so familiar but we din memorise it so we got to AS7 com lab and surfed online for it. Kent Ridge Park. when we ran down from AS7 saw this lorry uncle waiting for somebody then, sophy who became the "asker" in the end for the race, used her uncle-killer tai ci and smile so we got a ride to KRP. and i became the direction giver and "entertainer" on the way keep the conversation going with uncle so he wun feel that he's making a wasted trip. when uncle dropped us at KRP. Road runners (the team unique which they call themselves but we called them road relay team but sophy mutilated it to become road runners but sounds cute lah haha) and team Saudi already reached. brilliant sophy then went immediately to ask this too-young-to-be-uncle gentleman to give us a ride since he's leaving and to wait for us like 5 mins (cos we thought the task wun be long) and tell him we are the bandana group and dun give other teams ride. oopp... haha.. at 1st, we were clueless abt the task but when we saw wat the road runners were doing, i think we have an idea. our first answer for the wooden sticks wasd 1702. shit after alliance with team saudi who has an alliance with road runners, then we found out it was 1701 after counting everything like at least 4 times. we tried to add 1 everytime until 1707 but we never minus. arrgghh... then by this time tat nice gentlemen already waited for us for 40 mins. then we sorta gave him a scare cos he was messaging his fren then sophy popped her head at the window and i already opened his other door. it was his day off and he's so nice to drive us til the carpark which he say we dun need to run too far this way and this is how we arrived 1st at jurong east swimming complex. walk against the current in lazy river may sound easy but damn tiring sia. by the time i took the pink slide to come down team saudi and road runners were there already and road runners finished the lazy river already. damn fast lah. then we jus put on our clothes and run to the main road. with shoes not really tied properly. my fbt shorts keep slipping down lah cos the swimsuit damn slippery. hai.. anyway we din really manage to get our taxi ride free to bukit timah nature reserve but we onli paid $5 instead of $5.90 lah. we were first again. yeah... we were expecting them to say run to the summit cos tat's wat sophy and i would do as organisers but stunned. each person fold 12 origami cranes. tat's it le. double y have no idea at all. oh no. then sophy and i try to guide them our also mutated and ugly-looking cranes. then team saudi and road runners came. team saudi managed to finish 1st. dainty girls man. hai... maybe it's true wat roh ting says our team is 3 men and 1 girl team. girl being yeeky of cos. haha.. but well at least yi min and vin vin very nice to accept our ugly cranes. and cher very nice to let us drink canned chrysantymum tea. thank you dears!! then we left before road runners. 2nd to leave. yeah.. then we were supposed to go to toh yi badminton court. managed to get this young guy in the carpark who was leaving to send us there. he wanted to change into dry clothes and sophy and i thought he was going to the toilet which was a distance away then we were like oh no, can he faster? but to our amazement he jus change his singlet then we were on our way. i asked him to drop us at the main road buthe wans to drive us in. so nice again rit? singaporeans aren't tat bad actually. and a lot of ppl we hitchhiked all males actually all 1st time giving ppl rides man. then we were supposed to melt a bottle of ice. to us, quite no brainer jus pour lotsa water loh. we took like 3 mins lah. and kelvin was like the first team used 7 mins. haha yeah.. anyway easy task we went ahead. st joseph church. sophy says the old nanyang academy of fine arts there but i was thinking shld be somewhere near then we checked the postal code with cher and uncle who drove us there so shld be right. uncle jus off work and he lives nearby. he's repairing networks for nokia/singtel one. quite amazing then we talked abt employment, graduates finding jobs etc. then best. upper bukit timah abit of jam so uncle took another way, then jam a bit again. so we got off at a round abt cos uncle says not far. which was a mistake cos it was really far. almost like 2 bus stops. then we run lah. aargghh.. then we saw team saudi coming out from the church's side door so we followed and found yucheng and ash. roadblock sophy and i did it remember the passion of christ statues lah. 14 of them. quite interesting for them to find this place. sophy and i chopped approved for this place. haha... then it was west coast park. then we tried to hitch a catering van but auntie said she heading to changi so we fang guo her. but we were thinking wah catering van still can eat and hitch a ride. damn good lah but in the end sadly... we ended up taking a bus. straight bus though 176 i think. then bus easy to ask uncle for free ride lah. then aarrgghh... the bus's ezylink system kinda broke down so caused lotsa delays cos ppl dun wanna lose their full $1.80 fare. aarghh took us like 40 - 50 mins to reach west coast park. damn hungry sia. hai.. then run to spider web saw terry and laiping. you kai climb the webbie and yeah PITSTOP le although a bit fast to end the day but well. we hurried to the marsh garden at west coast a nice place too... got duckies swimming in the swamp. well we finished like 9 mins after the 1st team and 7 mins after the 2nd team. quite alright i would say. then i think other teams a bit lagged already. we were bound to west coast park cos team saudi and road runners from eusoff hall so if let them go back then we ji bai liao liao. anyway so while we were walking back to pick up our tent, we saw this buffet function, then our eyes lighted up together FREE FOOD. anyway we a bit ai mai ai mai wan to ask dun wanna ask. so in the end the guy there asked us whether we wan food and he said $5 then we are like explain our situation then he let us eat loh. we took 3 whole plates of char mee, fried rice and chicken. and ta pao pastries and rice kueh which was quite disgusting after a while in a ziploc. we even took a pic with our benefactors who were from Sheares Hall. while we are eating there, then the 4th team which was our race 2 participants with xiang xin one pasted us and went to report then they also came and get free food. we felt a bit bad cos like we attracted so many ppl come and eat and participants also then our advantage was gone lah cos road runners and team saudi came in the end too after begging for food at macs failed. they damn good sia. then we decided to head to campsite with a bit of unfinished food. campsite damn a lot of ants lah but near to toilet. we chose to walk to the toilet the furthest to see if got showers cos the one nearby onli toilets. but well no showers but we had the whole toilet to ourselves so we flooded the toilets while we bathed. shampoo-ed outside the toilet in our swim suits. mus be quite a funny sight. and sophy was saying actually quite easy to survive as homeless jus bathe in the parks lah. true. haha.. and use the govt's water. anyway after tat we set up our clothes line and went to macs to get some ice cream then we met ah hong and ah ryl who were here to deliver bread. haha... they very nice they thought we were starving then bought lotsa food from macs to treat us but in the end we were so full from the buffet already loh. roh ting aka the radio also came by. haha.. she treated us ice cream too. well compared to the mango pudding she cupped from sophy during race 1 i think ice cream was much cheaper. then we retired for the night but thanx to team 16 whose tent was like 5 m away but they were so loud tat they sound like they are jus beside us. one team also like play cards til damn late lah. we slept at 11.30pm but at least kept awake til 2 plus am. prob the day wasn't shagged enough man i was saying.

2nd day
arrgghh.. din sleep well but well we are ready for day 2. first staion farmart. found the place with street directory from kind by-passers who jus arrived at WCP so not nice to ask them for lift. the WCP carpark a bit hard cos everyone jus came onli so we went to the condo opp. and met his army guy who's abt to book in. he's going Nee Soon camp then i'm like a bit off so i din really ask. then luckily we asked an uncle by the pool to give us a lift then he very nice to agree and even gave us some cookies (which we polished off at the 2nd pitstop) from his house. then he drove us to Farmart. he's been to the place b4 and he thought of getting some flowers for his house so he went to shop ard while we did our task. then we asked him to hang ard so that we could ask him for a lift to next station too. shit it was a reset station. every single team was like there already lah by the time we can get to do our task which was to drink cactus juice. wasn't all tat bad but the foam from the juice damn er lah.. we finished the task then ran towards uncle's car parked outside. woodlands ring rd field. very big field. then i'm like i think we are going to fly kite. then we ran towards the field but sadly the station masters were under the HDB. road runners were already there. then shortly after us, team saudi. yeeky and you kai did the road block cos yeeky kinda kite expert cos she went to the kite fest at penggarang b4. completed the task then off we dash but we checked out nearby carpark and the HDB alleys. think our best chance for a ride is at the road. the road runners already at the road stopping cars and they damn spread out lah. and we actually snatched a ride from them lah but anyway uncle onli going to drop us at main rd so i think they think their loss not so big lah. haha.. oopps.. after reaching the main rd near the mrt line, there was a market lah and we took quite a while to get a ride cos everybody jus come to market then wanna go home which is nearby in woodlands. then lucky lucky us got a ride from this malay cab driver who jus started his day and we are his first passenger so he decided to be nice. oh man... see there are nice ppl ard. woodlands to rocher centre not very near leh. but on the way, yes yes he preached abt Islam and stuff lah but bearable so we jus smile smile and nod nod. then dash off to the common linkway then sophy and i were like shit dun tell me block catching which was like the idea for race 2. ok lucky not block catching but smth worse man. find 20 items of those dry goods from the victoria wholesale market. and kukubandungs us went to the much further market and happily run back and forth back and forth. everybody can onli see the items and arrangement like for 10s each time then next time we wanna see add another item. interesting station but damn time-consuming lah. we took like 2 hours plus there and we completed it by alliance by road runners who arrived 1st at the station and sadly team saudi has fallen back to 7th cos they couldn't get a ride from woodlands. well road runners had 8 wrong out of 21 and we got 4 wrong. haha.. well the alliance benefitted them more lah. but well we finished the station together and managed to eat onli a few mouthfuls of the $1.90 nasi lemak tat we bought then we ran to suntec. sophy wanted to hitch a ride but i was thinking runnign more straightforward and faster cos the traffic quite heavy and roads a bit big round. so we ran jus straight line up the ramp and to suntec. yeah.. after surveying they are not on the outdoors of the fountain we went inside the mall. then found them at the staircase leading to outside which was blocked by this osim booth. then we climbed to tat stair via the platform to go and touch the fountain water at the centre. a bit dangerous but we dun care le. anyway we 1st to reach. yeah!! and in the end we found out road runners also ran to suntec but they took a longer route so they slower and they damn surprised to see us there 1st cos they said they really got run. haha.. so funny. like we damn power and can fly like tat. need to find car. i was thinking either kelvin or fx's car lah. sophy and yeeky took B1 and you kai and i took B2. actually we were supposed to find items to give us clues to the cars lah but we were thinking find the car first lah. then you kai found it! haha.. amazingly damn fast. fx couldn't believe it too. then use his car plate no to break a lock to a briefcase at macs. haha then i picked up 4 doublecheese and 1 L coke for my team. haha who ask them to choose my turf? i got advantage man. anyway sadly sophy told road runners the car at B2 le so well think they din take too long. fx told me after road runners went to look for all the bonus items and managed to get them but we were on our way to kampong glam already. hitchhiked at the carrefour exit of suntec carpark. a very nice young man. haha.. we took a big turn cos some roads near padang closed due to ndp. took a bit of time. then the weird thing is tat when he wanna cut into the lane he will roll down his window and raise his hand and when i said he was polite he said no. if the cars dun rang him, he will show them smth lah. then we are like stunned. damn funny lah. haha.. anyway he was helpful enough le. then detour find or play. we chose play lah but we totally sucked at it. sophy spinned top easily after asking for advice. i finished my 5 stones when road runners came when the direct challenge came lah. haha.. we couldn't juggle or kick the chateh for 20 times so we forfeited 30 mins. aargh and the road runners easily finished it except the 5 stones took a bit of time. derrick lah was stuck there. the cute one from road runners, supposed to have gone with me to tahan. haha.. anyway still fun to race with them lah. we took damn long to wait out the 30 mins then hitch a ride to next station bugis village to sell $10 worth of stuff for apparently we found out later meiyu's cousin's shop. yeeky, sophy and you kai did well lah. onli i din sell anything. quite sad. but well anyway off we go to esplanade waterfront. roads were closed so i suggested taking bus to my place then then run along the river down. some parts we got to detour cos we met the ndp ppl at the holding points. saw wei tang and zhen yuan there. got a MD. ran to newly-opened sony shop at marina square and so sucky they dun have display set for us to play it. wah kao angry lah. then we had to go to harvey norman at millenia walk. the supervisor a bit face black black but well got to listen. changi airport terminal 1 viewing gallery. went back to the suntec carpark to try our luck. and we blocked the entire entrance. sophy and i were at the carrefour side. youkai and yeeky covered the loading and unloading and the other carpark. covered all ground man. then yeeky or youkai damn lucky to get us this long ride from this guy who stays at tampines. his car onli 4 mths old and we damn stinking lah. haha.. but he was quite funny. he said race mus be more tekan. like dun give $20 but onli $10 then dun drink cactus juice but eat lizard or smth like tat in fear factor kind. then got off then began to run. sophy was saying we like rushing for planes and ang mos look at us and smile smile like they really tink we are in amazing race like tat. haha quite funny... then when we reached we saw keith and huiting. they purposely one. we are not supposed to look for them 1st but they stick their heads out to lure us. haha.. then found dessiemonie, ft and geylang guy (opps.. yes ting ting he's called en kai). pure luck station to choose a flight then we can leave when the gate of the flight is closed. haha.. we tossed a coin in the end to choose cos it was sophy and you kai for jakarta and yeeky and me for bangkok. so it was bangkok and happened that we on the same flight as road runners!! haha.. they arrived at least half an hour b4 us loh. they are unlucky and we are lucky to have caught up. ate our double cheeseburgers there. tasted heavenly although was stuffed in my bag for quite a while. first proper meal man. then when we went off together, i think all of us were like u run then we run. in the end we ended up jus walking out of the terminal. we headed for the departure hall cars and they headed for cab queue or carpark. no luck at the departure hall outside so went to car park. started to drizzle le. then managed to grab a lexus guy who actually we approached at the departure hall but he was waiting for his papa who forgot his passport then he wanted to park cos tp chase him le so he came to park but in the end his papa managed to board the plane so he was going off. then he also stays at tampines. so he gave us a ride to changi beach. very nice fair workign executive. haha.. we managed to find ash, hh, yujie and ah ryl like 5 seconds b4 road runners cos their ride dropped them at changi village. then we set fire to roast marshmellows (stupid ash's fav). we got girl guide and boy scout no prob. and of cos tat girl guide also fire breather. the road runners flew the plane model 1st. looks quite hard man. but well we took a while too but sophy's finish was damn nice lah. we overturned the plane model and it flew straight past the mark ah ryl wanted and would have flown even further if not for you kai who caught it. then stunned gave us a stupid crossword. wah lau who in the right mind now can solve puzzle for u? mentally and physically tired. then i'm like PITSTOP!!! let it all end today man. the pressure is on becos both teams are on the puzzle already. like ni si wo hou kinda thingy already. we are like we mus finish this cannot lose cannot lose. haha.. then we got quite a few stupid answers but we ironed out those and BIGSPLASH (the 2nd pitstop) and KAMPONG jus surfaced in my mind. HAHAHA!!! solved it all... then we quickly try to hitch a ride. sophy saw teresa's car outside PA haha.. she's on kayak expedition but well can't do anythign abt it. she onli comes back on sunday. then managed to get uncle driving lorry who was going to pasir ris (which is like 10 mins away) to give us a ride. uncle damn damn damn nice cos damn big detour for him. sophy did a damn nice jump onto the lorry cos she was the last to get up since she was opp the road. haha damn seh. on the way, we saw road runners still trying hard for last word i think it was KAMPONG. haha.. we asked later on and seriously they never read the clues at kampong glam see us do then quickly do. oh ya the crossword was like the words of the station tat day. interesting too lah. then on the expressway we were like looking in every single cab who zoomed past us and praying road runners not on any of them becos they love to hitch cabs and always managed to get them free and cab drivers damn fast lah. mr nice lorry-driver can't beat them one. then reach big splash saw meiyu, terry and laiping. YEAH!!!! we were 1st!!! with lead of 10 mins. feeling damn good lah to beat road runners. haha.. and both our teams had like 2 hour lead over the rest. team saudi quite sad finished 7th but not eliminated lah. we were bounded again so asked kenny to bring us supper. damn demoralised lah when we were expecting minced pork noodles, chix wings, satay, tou huay, he brought us 2 loafs of gardenia flavoured bread, raisin and corn. wah lau disappointing but well LL loh. haha... then while road runners concussed we waited for team saudi to arrive then we went to zzz. damn nice to sleep cos we damn shagged already. although it was louder than in west coast cos got bbq parties and etc etc ard. but we jus slept like a baby with occassional breaks to see wat time. and when terence and ting ting came to our tent and tell us we set off at 9am. i thought i was dreaming then dunno wat nonsense i told them already lah. haha.. so we jus zzz.. we at least slept full 8 hours loh. nice!! haha but sophy almost crawled out of the tent cos she was damn hot haha.. well we survived the night.

3rd day
flagged off at 9am. telling us to run to macs. haha.. oopss actually we hitched then ran a bit. lala.. i almost missed nicholas and fren but their clue buried too shallow lah.. few seconds got it le. ford rd carpark. haha managed to hitch a ssangyoong sport utility vehicle which this guy supposedly the sales persons says he mus drive ard for ppl to see it. they targetting at young executives. it;s a korean car with a benz engine and damn cheap lah $57K onli loh, cheaper than toyota. but anyway we reach the heavy vehicle carpark which was supposed to be the ACTUAL ford rd carpark. saw nobody so the sales person said he knows another one down the expressway thought i was doubtful i din stop him. in the end his "carpark" became a construction site and he can't turn back cos he needs to return the car, so asked him to drop us beside at the expressway then we ran back. xiong sia. and we managed to find the RP. where? carpark B1 or B2. a bit frustrated but at least we asked we were the 1st team to arrive and detour again. car wash or sandcastle of cos car wash lah beach so far. then while we wash the car, we try to hide, in case road runners come and then find the right car park immediately. haha... damn silly of us cos it was a split check point. they went to the other one already. anyway we washed car not very up to standard cos i dun tink my team mates washed car b4. but well HT let us off so well we hitched a ride with this guy with a dog in the car. yeeky quite sad so she sat in front. haha.. but the dog really lean and pretty man the fur also very nice. haha.. and the young guy who gave us a ride very very nice. talk abt dogs etc etc. some ppl can be so chatty and make my "entertainer" job so easy and some like the lexus guy and the roll down window to cut lane guy are quite hard to talk to, haha.. guess mus use diff way to handle them ba. anyway he dropped us near singapore dragon boat association which was near enough already lah cos we can't ask him to stop at nicholl highway then we climbed up stairs and tried to brisk walk but our hearts sank when we saw road runners reach the station clearly from nicholl highway. we broke off into a run immediately. sad they reach 1st then kayak. i said you kai cos he climb arms quite powerful then sophy was saying she go but i scared got climbing station so in the end i went. task was a but weird one person has to stick one leg into a single kayak while both ppl are on doubles.quite xiong on the leg cos the kayak kinda cuts the calf muscles and we've been running for 3 days a bit tight.. and damn it lah.. anyway shall not elaborate but a bit of a hiccup and stall our time for a while. and road runners' kayakers although no experience paddled damn fast lah even faster than terry i heard. we took turns to stick our leg in the safety kayak. but lin ting and qing quan very nice to cheer us on on the way back. i damn shagged already. and they say i cannot relac. haha.. and qing quan helped us avoid the rocks a bit cos kinda diff to turn the boats nicely cos we can't really reach our right side becos of the single kayak. got to shore and i htink road runners left like 20 mins le. hai.. a bit frustrated but well we hurried along after getting the clue. KE 7 hall in NUS. took cab le lah. told uncle we had onli $7.15 and told him we give him all then he said $7 can already lah. haha.. and you kai kinda picked up our buttering skills and butter a bit of uncle. but uncle never really drive damn fast lah although we told him we are in a race. then reached KE7 jas and yimin. supposed to deliver coffee.. wah lau the KE7stairs damn good sia. hai.. run up and down up and down. dying loh.. then the last coffee to 8th floor we can onli send our dear you kai up le. xin ku ta le. then engine bridge pitstop. so familiar sia. then we managed to persuade an uncle helping her daughter move into PGP to send us there. and so our last dash to the finishing line.... finished 18 mins after road runners. hai.. disppointed but i think they are really good and deserve to win too. they had a small hiccup too when jasmine din return them their race pass after the KE7 station. damn drama they were saying. stepped onto the red mat but no race pass then they pia back to take. they were worthy opponents lah. although i hate to let a 4 boys groups win, cos it onli shows it takes physical but well i think they are damn good too lah. haha.. good to have them as rivals cos otherwise we will be damn relac. then no kick le.

alright finally finished my story and it's 3.30am need to man matric fair booth this morning at 8am. hope i dun die tmr. but well had a really unforgettable experience. would like to thank my dear sophy, yeeky and you kai (our 3rd sub actually after chee kong and kenny). and the race 3 comm for a good job done. =) oh ya and road runners for worthy rivals who pushed us on to reach our limits.
